View into the Goethe Laboratory

We offer our visitors a variety of approaches to Jena's cultural and intellectual history around 1800. Historical places - such as the garden house outside the city walls acquired by Friedrich Schiller in 1797 and the Goethe Laboratory in the Inspector's House of the Botanical Garden - and their individual objects enable sensory experiences and allow historical and scientific contexts to become aesthetically understandable. Both institutions of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena offer specific guided tours of the house and garden, lectures and small “workshops” as well as their own materials.
